synchronous chat session

How did you find that
It was the first experience I participated synchronous chat session especial for learning purpose. I was interesting because everyone just posted things for as long as they have posted.  This environment has a potential of not enhancing learning because we might came prepared however there is not room rather enough time for student to change their misconception.
was it very different to participating in a face-to-face classroom discussion? Share you views on this.
I don’t there not much different from face-to-face as in face-to-face people see what they charting with.

knowledge and skills as potential online facilitator

What knowledge or skills has had a strong influence in your teaching or training?
Learning theories and using different online tool.  Online learning environment is not perfect the same with face-to-face teaching.  It should be constantly evaluated so that can be improved.

How has that contributed to your confidence as a potential facilitator online? Technology should not be the main focus, in other words it should not take over the learning process instead it should enhance the learning process.

Informal society learning institution

Learning can happen in both formal and informal situation, or environment or different place.  Professional trained teacher might use learning theories to help to teach learners.  Learning theories might help the teacher to reflect on teaching.  Another thing which learning theories might help the teacher is will be able to explain some things which are happening in the class room.

When comes to informal learning is taking place in accordance with the theories but they different is that people who are involve in those leaning situation are not aware of them.  They might lack the understand and the science of how people learn some learning is taking place.  learning is taking place socially and connectily and so on

Podcasting

What I have learned about podcast is that the technology and the educational materials are there for use to use but we are not aware.  The only time we engage our self in podcast is when we want entertainment .  when work on the street on schools grounds you see learners with earphone on their eyes listening to music.  Teacher need to take this opportunity and provide learners with podcast materials so that they can listen to them everywhere they are and anytime they are.  Learners can also be shown how to created their own podcast.  Teacher can asked or intruct learners to record themselves about certain topic after that learners can post on the net so that other learners can listened to it.

The give opportunity for those learners who are afraid or shy to ask talk.  Another important thing I learned about podcasting is that it can be used to clarified misconception and misunderstanding about learners.  Learners can assess each other.

Myself

My name is Ronald Makola.  I was born in Ga-Rankuwa, a township on the north of Pretoria.  I have studied my undergraduate degree of Bed at Wits measuring with Mathematics.  I am employed at College in Pretoria teaching computer literacy to adult student.  My hobbies are listening to music.  Although I don’t restrict my self on the type of music, the music which I listen in most of time is reggae.  The other hobbies are poetry where if I get time, I go to poetry sessions, comedy were if I have time and money I go to watch comedy stand, lastly sport where if I have time I go to stadium to watch the game especially the match between Chiefs and pirates.  By the way I am Pirates’s fan.

I chose to study online learning and teaching in order to help my student using ICT.  Again advise other teachers on online learning and teaching.  I am also hoping that the course will enable me or teach me how to design online learning and teaching materials  My understanding is that to be able to design online material one have to have some little bit of programming.  My understanding might be wrong.  Looking forward to here from you.
